Privacy & Data Policy

We don't sell or share your data

Pelicoolas does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes. We don't run ads. The only places your data goes are the service providers below, strictly to make the app work.

What we collect

• Account info: your name, email, and profile photo, from Google Sign-In. We never see or store your Google password.
• Your activity in the app: people you follow, movies you mark watched or add to your watchlist, badges you earn. This is what makes the app work — tracking filmographies.
• Public profile: if you use the follow-other-users feature, your display name and photo become visible to anyone with your profile link (/u/{you}). Your watched movies and watchlist are visible only to people you've approved as followers. Nothing else is public unless you explicitly share it (e.g. your recommendations board).
• Basic usage analytics: page views and performance metrics via Vercel Analytics — aggregated, not tied to your identity beyond what's needed to render a chart.

Who else touches your data

• Firebase (Google) — hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your account and app data live there.
• Vercel — hosts the app itself and its analytics.
• TMDB — we query TMDB's API server-side for movie and person data (posters, cast, ratings). We don't send TMDB any information that identifies you — just the movie/person IDs needed to fetch public data.

None of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own advertising.

Cookies & local storage

We use your browser's local storage for things like your theme preference, view settings, and offline caching (this app works as an installable PWA). We don't use tracking cookies or third-party ad cookies.

Your rights

• Access & export — download everything you've stored at any time from your account menu ("Export data").
• Deletion — email us (below) to request full account deletion, and we'll remove your data from our database.
• Correction — your name/photo come from Google; update them there and they'll sync here next time you sign in.

If you're in the EU/UK, these map to your GDPR rights of access, erasure, and data portability. If you're in California, this covers your CCPA rights — and to be explicit: we do not sell your personal information.

Children

Pelicoolas isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
